HGTV Changing the World One Renovation at a Time

sah.jpg

HGTV recently announced the winners of the Change the World, Start at Home campaign aimed at revitalizing communities across the country. Several projects within five cities are going to get a helping hand from HGTV, Natural Resources Defense Council, Rebuilding Together and the National Trust for Historic Preservation on energy upgrades, open space improvements, home repairs and more.

The cities chosen (by open online voting) are: New Orleans, LA, Baltimore, MD, Denver, CO, Twin Cities, MN, and Washington, D.C. Within each municipality are different projects that will be the focus of the campaign starting the last week of April this year.

One of the projects is a very cool 1928 firehouse adapted for use by the Women’s Bean Project. This collaborative helps women break the cycles of unemployment and poverty by providing on-the-job training in the gourmet food industry. The organization also offers support to women to attain a GED or improve their job skills with computer classes.

HGTV’s involvement with the Women’s Bean Project means the organization can expand their facility and programs, increasing the capabilities to help more women turn their lives around. You can get support this project right now by shopping their wonderful online store filled with yummy treats like organic, fair trade coffee, spicy bean dips, soups, breads and lots more. Read about all projects in the Change the World, Start at Home campaign over at HGTV. Volunteers needed!

I have been interested in hgtv for a long time. I think you all are awesome. Especially those of you who put yourself out there everyday just to help make the lives of others happier. You have shown what a heart you all have… Praise God for that! I am interested in doing things for my community, but I do not know where to start. Of course I do not have money to do that, but I will do whatever I can to help those in need. We also need to look at the world and the condition it is in. We need more Eco-friendly products. I am tired of those who feel they cannot do anything to change which it actually starts “at home”. I live in Minnesota and am interested in helping out anyway I can. You can contact me at my email address, if you wish. Thank You and God Bless each and every one of you.
